Football fans assault man walking down a street

The claimant was walking down a road when confronted by a group of football fans.

Because he wasn't wearing a scarf he was accused of being a rival fan and then assaulted.

The claimant in this case was walking down a busy high street when he was singled out by a group of football fans.

They began to verbally abuse him and wanted to know which team he supported. Despite having no football scarf or strip to identify him he was accused of being a supporter of a rival team.

They then surrounded him in the middle of a busy shopping street and carried out a vicious beating. The assault resulted in a broken wrist, severe bruising and concussion.

The claimant had no recollection of the events that led to the assault.

The case was immediately reported to the police by a passer by and an ambulance was called to attend the injured party. With our help he was awarded £3700 in criminal injuries compensation form the CICA.
