If you have been the victim of crime and suffered injury or harm as a result, you may be able to claim compensation.

The Criminal Injury Compensation Authority (CICA) in the UK operate a scheme to compensate victims of crime where it can be shown that injury or trauma (including psychological harm) was caused by a criminal act.

There are specific criteria to meet but in general provided that the matter has been reported to the police and that there is a medical record of the injuries sustained, a compensation award may be made to the injured victim and / or their families.
