Childline annual review 2014/2015

The NSPCC today released its annual review of the Childline charity and counselling service set up by Esther Rantzen in 1986.

During the last 12 months the charity handled almost 300,000 contacts from children discussing a broad range of issues and problems that affect them in their day to day lives. Four of the top ten reasons for making contact involved issues surrounding mental health. Problems such as low self esteem, suicidal feelings or even depression.

The Childline website received more than 3 million visits during 2014 / 2015, up 5% on previous years. Sexual abuse and related problems online saw an increase of 8% compared to the previous year.
